Cephalotripsy: Promo 2011

Fuck! This band has come a long way since their first demo. California’s very own slam sensation, Cephalotripsy, have not only carved a name for them in the USA but have also been seen traveling across Europe to perform for some of the most slam-hungry crowds around. They recently toured Eastern Europe and from what the critics say, they totally destroyed one of Ukraine’s most popular death metal festivals. After a short hiatus from releasing any new material, due to the vocalist and drummers priority in their other band, Condemned, they have finally unleashed a new 3-song promo to keep the pigs at bay. The new songs show definitive growth and change in their approach to the style of slam death metal with east-coast elements incorporated than on their previous material which was heavy on the Devourment-esque skool of slam. Angel Ochoa’s vocal performance remains one of the most disgusting out there right now and he impressed the fuck out of me on Condemned’s new monster “Realms of the Ungodly” (I will be reviewing this beast soon!). All in all, I must say that the new promo is a real treat and it has definitely made me curious to hear more from these fellas.

8/10: I love slams and unfortunately there are tons of new bands out there making a mockery of this style like any other style and it has become very difficult to truly appreciate bands attempting this style but there will always be those that reign above all the swill. Cephalotripsy is definitely engaging on the righteous path to do so!

After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
